JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a meticulous and detail-oriented Fingerprint Technician to join our team. As a Fingerprint Technician, you will be responsible for processing and classifying fingerprint records, maintaining fingerprint files, and utilizing automated systems for fingerprint recognition. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent manual dexterity, and a deep understanding of various fingerprinting techniques and processes.
ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Fingerprint Technicians will be responsible for the collection, analysis, and processing of fingerprints in a variety of settings.
- As a Fingerprint Technician you will play a critical role in law enforcement and criminal justice, aiding in pre-employment processes requiring fingerprints, or assisting in the identification of individuals involved in illegal activities.
- Collecting fingerprints from individuals or crime scenes using appropriate techniques and tools
- Recording and preserving fingerprints for further analysis and reference
- Performing detailed analysis of collected fingerprints using specialized software and equipment
- Comparing and matching fingerprints with existing records in databases
- Preparing detailed reports on fingerprint findings for use in investigations or court proceedings
- Maintaining confidentiality and security of all fingerprint records and related information
- Collaborating with law enforcement agencies, providing expert testimony in court when required
- Staying up to date with the latest technologies and techniques in fingerprint analysis
- Providing training to other staff members on proper fingerprinting procedures and techniques
- Maintaining and cleaning fingerprinting equipment and workspaces to ensure optimal functioning and compliance with safety standards
- Collect, record, and preserve fingerprints using various methods such as ink and digital systems.
- Classify and file fingerprints according to established systems.
- Verify fingerprints and other personal identification methods to ensure accurate identification.
- Utilize automated systems for fingerprint recognition.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports.
- Process and successfully submit fingerprints and/or other in dentification in a timely manner to the correct agency
- Must be able to verify personal identification and pass state and federal background checks
- Cooperate and communicate effectively with law enforcement agencies, courts and other institutions.
- Ensure compliance with safety and security protocols.
- Assist in training personnel on fingerprint identification and classification techniques.
- Stay updated on the latest fingerprinting technology and techniques.
QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIRED SKILLS:
- At least 5 years fingerprinting experience
- Proficiency in computer systems, databases, and software used for storing, retrieving, and analyzing fingerprint data.
- Respond appropriately to emails
- Excellent customer service skills, including maintaining focus on the customer issue in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to approach problems logically and rationally
- Ability to work in a changing, flexible and team-oriented environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and produce high-quality work in a timely manner
- Fingerprint Technicians need excellent attention to detail to accurately analyze and classify fingerprints, and able to match fingerprints accurately.
- Regardless of the level, all fingerprint technicians should possess a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, a deep understanding of fingerprint identification laws and regulations related to handling and storing biometric data to ensure compliance.
- Self-starter able to initiate work, complete tasks, detail oriented, and meet deadlines with minimum supervision
- Detailed knowledge of fingerprinting techniques and procedures, including applying, rolling, and pressing methods.
- Technical understanding and ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot fingerprinting software, equipment and machinery.
- A good understanding of criminal law and forensic science is beneficial as well.
- Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse groups of people, both in explaining the fingerprinting process and in gathering necessary information.
- Proven experience as a Fingerprint Technician or similar role.
- Knowledge of fingerprint classification systems and methods.
- Experience with digital fingerprinting technology.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Some roles may require candidates to be certified as a Certified Latent Print Examiner (CLPE) or a Certified Fingerprint Technician (CFT), which involves additional training and experience.

EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Degree in Forensic Science or related field is a plus.
- Certification from a recognized fingerprint association is desirable.
- Relevant experience may substitute for a college degree

- Work Hours: 9:00am – 5:30pm
- Schedule: Flexibility for M/Tu/W/Th/Sa - Flexible 15-20 hours a week
